Boch Center Wang Theatre

In a regular year Moscow Ballet’s Great Russian Nutcracker is performed at the Boch Center Wang Theatre. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Wang Theatre has housed the performing arts since opening in 1925, developing from a movie “cathedral” and home to vaudeville musicals and big bands, to today’s role as an impressive venue for world-class theatre, music, Broadway, and dance. Through the generosity of Dr. An and Lorraine Wang, the Theatre was restored to its former glory in 1983. Today the Wang Theatre holds 3,500 audience members and boasts one of the five largest stages in the country.

Moscow Ballet has toured the United States and Canada during the holiday season since 1993 and is exclusively represented by Talmi Entertainment, Inc. for these tours. There are 70 to 80 Russian-trained classical dancers on the annual N.A. tour who fly in from the former republic of Russia. Stanislav Vlasov, a former principal artist of the Bolshoi Ballet, was the first artistic director on the North American tour in 1993. Vlasov’s debut in the United States was at Carnegie Hall in 1957.
Past Local Ballet Partnership in Boston: The School of Classical Ballet
A Party Child dances with a gift in the Party Scene
Nutcracker wouldn’t be Nutcracker without the local Children’s cast! Dancing along side the full professional Russian cast are local Boston children from The School of Classical Ballet. The School of Classical Ballet was founded in 1985 by Anna Myer and Patricia Adelmann. For 30 years the school has provided students with classical ballet training and helped to develop student appreciation for dance as an art form. In 2009, under the direction of Ariella Amshalem and Kirsta Sendziak, additional dance forms were incorporated into The School of Classical Ballet curricula. Kirsta Sendziak continues to provide students the quality of instruction upon which the school was founded. The School of Classical Ballet is a technique-based school. Performances are all-inclusive opportunities for students to showcase their technique and gain experience performing for an audience.
