Moscow Ballet and Local Carrollton Ballet Partnership: Carrollton Academy of Dance
Nutcracker wouldn’t be Nutcracker without the local Children’s cast! Dancing along side the full professional Russian cast are local Carrollton children from Carrollton Academy of Dance. Carrollton Academy of Dance (CAD) is the oldest dance studio in Carroll County. The studio began in 1977, and today is under the direction of Heather Parker. Since the beginning, CAD has specialized in age appropriate costuming, musical selections, and choreography. The studio offers classes for students wishing for recreational activity and to those who want to train more intensively. Classes are offered in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Pointe, Hip Hop, Lyrical, and Contemporary. CAD is also home to the Parker Dance Company (PDC). Members of the PDC are chosen through audition or by invitation. These students travel throughout the south for conventions, workshops, and competitions. The PDC continues to bring home top honors year after year. PDC was founded in 2003 to give CAD students more performance opportunities and to grow more extensively in the art of dance.
